2012 SECO Conference
There is no SECO conference in 2012 due to NSTA convention being in Indianapolis in March this year. Our conference will be in February 2013 in Dayton. Meanwhile, those who wish to go to Indianapolis as SECO
member would get to register at a discounted price, which is $90 off the non-member price.

Join Ohio teachers of science in an exciting new professional development series to learn how to use the Model Curriculum to increase student achievement.
Regional events, developed in conjunction with ODE, will be held throughout the 2011-2012 academic year. These sessions will:
-
provide an overview of what the Model Curriculum contains
-
promote examples of inquiry-based instruction
-
allow participants time to discover the features and benefits of the Model Curriculum
These sessions will enhance the information shared at Educational Service Centers (ESCs) and dig deeper beyond the initial introduction. There will be follow up sessions offered online and face to face in the Spring 2012 to continue these discussions. The introductory webinar will also be repeated in February 2012 before the regional follow up sessions begin.
Sessions are offered FREE to all interested in science education - neither SECO membership, nor district participation in Race to the Top is required.
SECO will be working with Ashland University to provide one semester of graduate credit for $199. The requirements will be to attend a mix of meetings from SECO and/or the ESCs over the school year to add up to 10-12 contact hours. Most SECO meetings are around 3-4 hours, and ESC meetings are 2.5 hours. SECO will also be offering hour-long online discussions. The main deliverable will be to develop a lesson around one of the ideas in the model curriculum, teach it, and reflect on successes and changes to be made.
